Title: A journal of travels into the Arkansa Territory, during the year 1819. With occasional observations on the manners of the Aborigines.

Published by Thos. H. Palmer. Includes Nuttall's observations on his journey from Philadelphia to Arkansas along the Arkansas River. Describes his encounters with Cherokee, Chickasaw, Osage, and Quapaw Tribes, among others. A botanist and naturalist, Nuttall also details the vegetation, climate, and agricultural possibilities of the territory he passes through. Contains a fold-out map inside the front cover of Nuttall's route along the Arkansas River.

Title: General epistle from the Council of the Twelve Apostles, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints abroad, dispersed throughout the earth.

Signed in type by President Young and Clerk Willard Richards. A letter narrating Mormon history from their expulsion from Illinois in 1846 until their settlement in Utah and their founding of Salt Lake City. Invites like-minded people in the British Isles and throughout the world to join them on the east side of the Missouri River to trek together to Utah. According to records at Brigham Young University this pamphlet was printed in St. Louis, Missouri, before the middle of January 1848.

Abbott USA at Washington, upon whose certificate of disability I had leave of absence for fifteen days dated Aug 4th 1863." Is incapable of joining his regiment.

This collection of letters was written while John B. Moore taught school in Louisiana and Alabama. Eighteen letters are from John to his sister Mary Moore (2-3, 6-7, 9-11, 15-18, 20-22, 25-27, 29); three letters have notes to both Mary and brother Richard Moore on the same letter (2, 16, 18). Other correspondence involves brother Robert E. Moore (2, 4, 8, 12, 13, 14, 23, 28), and father Garrett Moore (19, 24), with two letters from Irish cousins (12, 14). Three quarter length standing portrait of Surgeon General Moore in dress uniform. With rubber stamp on verso, "C.M. Bell. 463 & 465 Penna. Ave. Washington, D.C." Moore wears his dress uniform complete with epaulets, belt buckle, sash, dress belt, and sword. See GLC04916.06 for Moore's epaulets and belt buckle. Moore had been an important army physician during the Civil War and was made Surgeon General in 1886. He served in that role until his retirement in 1890.
