Writes from Camp Wayne telling his father that they were recamped at "West Chester," about thirty miles outside of Philadelphia. Asks him to send his letters to, "Camp Wayne, West Chester, in care of Capt. Martins..." Reports that one of the men on the same train was killed because he was drunk and was struck in the head as they were going under a bridge. Small portion of second page ripped off.

Writes from Camp Wayne, communicating that he is glad she is feeling better. Reports that he got his fatigue suit. Expresses concern that he does not know when he will get his furlough, as three boys have recently gotten sick and will get a furlough before this. States he is now enrolled in "7 Regiment of Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Commanded by Colonel Harvey." Tells her each regiment has 1046 men in it, and each company has 101 men.

Reports from Camp Wayne to his cousin. Indicates he is now in the 7th Pennsylvania Regiment of the Reserve Corps, commanded by Colonel Harvey. Asks if Benjamen would come for a visit, telling him that the fare is 65 cents each way. Suggests that his cousin should enlist in the Reserve Corps or Bakers California Regiment. Requests his letters be sent to: Douglas guards in care of Captain Martins, Camp Wayne, West Chester, PA. Envelope addressed to Benjamen H. Tyre, in care of Albert Beckman, N.W. Corner of 3rd & Georges St, 16th Ward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Title: [Certificate for Jacob Rambo]

Partially printed certificate shows Jacob Rambo voluntarily enlisted at Fort Washington in the first regiment of levies to serve for six months. Also shows that Rambo swore an oath of allegiance. These levies were raised from a law signed by President Washington on 3 March 1791 to raise troops on the frontier. The document is signed twice by Rambo using an "X" for his mark. Sworn before and signed by A.E. Outlaw. Fort Washington was near Cincinnati, Ohio.

Writes that he went to Kentucky to "pay off the militia of that district who served in General [Arthur] St. Clair's expedition against the Indians in 1791," as he was instructed to do. Explains how much he paid, and to how many militiamen. Believes the unpaid may apply at Fort Washington. Also explains that he advanced money to "Lewis," who was wounded and distressed; reminds Wilkinson that he authorized Swan to do so. Encloses two letters (not present).

Learned that the committee had full power to negotiate the sale of the whole or part of the "unlocated" lands. States that he spoke to the chairman and asked him to call a committee because he had an offer to make on a tract of land in the District of Maine. Written by General Jackson to Secretary of War Knox. Says he is enclosing a copy of the correspondence he had with the committee on the sale of the eastern lands (not included). Says the committee declined to sell him 2 million acres. The committee then asked the legislature for advice on how to proceed. Jackson says that "my every exertion was brought to a focus, and by good management the Court have directed the Committee to treat with me for the quantity I have applied for, and in the morng I shall receive their proposals."
