Title: Army song book

Compiled by the Adjutant General's Office in collaboration with the Library of Congress and published by the order of the Secretary of War. World War II song book with lyrics for 67 songs. Songs include, "The Army Air Corps," "Song of the Signal Corps," "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag," and "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Title pages reads: "This book is the property of the United States government and its contents may be used only within the military services."

A "Good Luck" chain letter. The letter stipulates that it and four other copies must be sent out, or the the receiver of the letter will have bad luck. It reads, "The one who breaks this chain will have bad luck. Don't keep this letter. It must be in the mail 24 hrs. after receiving it." Written at Camp Adair.

Augsberger mentions Gene Autry, a singer that he and Ardena are both fond of. He also says that he had Ardena's name tattooed onto his arm. The tattoo reads "My Darling Wife Ardena Mae." He asks Ardena to send him a picture of her if she has had one taken recently. Augsberger tells Ardena that he will speak to the Captain tomorrow and ask for a transfer into the Air Corps. He signs the letter as "Your Loveing Husband Richard." On the back of the envelope it reads "S.W.A.K." Written at Camp Adair.

Augsberger tells Ardena that he is supposed to be shipped out to another camp soon. He says he got one tooth pulled and another one filled. He lets Ardena know he misses her very much and longs to hold her in his arms again. He asks that she tell her mom and dad that he says hello, and sends her his love. Written at Camp Adair.

Just let one of the XO*!? get in my way and may God help him and forgive me."

Toward the end of the letter, he tells her something that he asks her to keep private: "Darling this is for you to know and no one else. I soon will be of age to do as I please.
