Adds, "Do you feel like marching down there and whipping some of those Southerners? I am looking every day to hear that war has commenced and I fear if it does that there will be blood shed for some time."

Also shares "Word came yesterday of quite a Battle being fought at Culpepper C. Discusses the merits of teaching as a profession. Proclaims, "May our friendship be 'lasting as the mountains rich' and 'as endurable as the waves of the ocean.' "
