Recipient inferred from the reference to "Mrs. Duane" at the end of the letter. References Duane's letter of 23 December 1777. Says nothing of importance has happened at headquarters. Sends news of movement of Washington's army outside Philadelphia. Reports that British crossed the Schuylkill River and that some minor skirmishes have taken place.
