A print of a photograph of Abraham Lincoln taken by William Marsh, in Springfield, Illinois on May 20th, 1860. It is a half-length photograph, Lincoln is facing right but looking directly at the camera. Taken two days after Lincoln recieved the nomation for presidential candidate by the Republican Party. Known as Ostendorf no. 21 and Mesere no. 21. "33439" is written in pencil upside-down on the rear left-hand corner of the reverse. A second string of numbers, "536203" is present further down. Print is albumen and mounted. Title comes from Library of Congress record.

A print of a photography taken by Fredrick William (F. W.) Ingmire of the Congressional funeral delegation outside the house of Abraham Lincoln. Taken on May 3rd, 1865, the day before Lincoln's funeral. The Lincoln house is draped in banners and curtains in mourning. It is a mounted albumen print. Printed on the mounting is a list of all the members of Congress in attendence. Photograph has blind embossed stamp of H.W. Fay. Inscribed "Compliments T.E. Septon."

A print of a photograph of the main building of Illinois Soldiers College, established March 30th, 1866 in Fulton, IL as a school where disabled veterans and their children, as well as orphans of Union soldiers, could receive an education. The school was first established as the Western Union College and Military Academy in September of 1861. Funded by the state of Illinois and renamed in 1873 to Northern Illinois College, and then in 1903 to Hansen's Military Academy. It is an albumen print mounted on two layers of backing material.

A print of a photograph of the caskets of Abraham Lincoln and William Wallace Lincoln in the receiving vault of Oak Ridge Cemetary, Springfield, IL. Taken sometime in May, 1865. Willie's remains were exhumed upon his father's death and transferred to Springfield, where both of their remains were interred with Edward's and Tad's in 1871. Half stereo-card size print. Ex-Fay. Extremely rare salt print taken by George S. Cooke of the interior of Fort Sumter after it was taken by Confederate troops. With pencil inscription at the top of the mount: "With the new flag of the south now raised and our Southerners in the stronghold at Fort Sumpter [sic], we will see which sister states join the cause." The flag described is the first flag of the Confederacy, with 7 stars and three horizontal stripes. The image has been published: Davis, Image of War v.1 p.102. A print of a photograph taken in Port Hudson, Louisiana in 1863. It portrays a cabin with black women laborers gathered in front and black soldiers lined up on the side. Pencil description written on back notes that Provost Marshall Captain Schenk [?] stands in the doorway of the house. Said to be a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation. Either McPherson & Oliver or the same photographer who did the winter scene (next item). It is a mounted albumen print.

A print of a photograph taken on January 8th, 1864, in Port Hudson, LA. Colonel Cyrus Hamlin [later made Brig. Gen]--son of Vice President Hannibal Hamlin--sits in the small one-horse sleigh at left. Behind him are officers of the 80th U.S. Colored Infantry [originally the 8th Corps d'Afrique], a black regiment he was raising at the time. Title from ink inscription on mount. A pencil note at the bottom identifies the soldiers on the sleighs. Small one-story structures can be seen in the background as well as trees. A mounted albumen print.

A print of a photograph taken of a various trains arriving at a yard. Likely Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD, as the masts of ships in the harbor can be seen in the background. The trains are mostly enclosed boxcars, though a passenger car can be seen at the center of the right side and another in the center below the top of the photograph. Written on the back is "arrival of Ohio troops at Balti" [it may also say Balto, it is ambiguous].

A print of a photograph taken of Battery Williams in Corinth, MS. In October 1862, Confederate forces attacked Corinth in an attempt to recapture the strategically important rail lines there. Union forces had taken Corinth the previous spring and erected seven batteries to defend it. On 4 October 1862 the cannonade from Battery Williams devastated the Confederate troops attacking Battery Robinett[e]. A print of a photograph of the main building of the former Corona College in Corinth, MS. The building is three stories and made of brick. A horse-drawn ambulance is parked at the entrance. Note that the columns are also made of brick. Corona College was founded in 1857 as a female seminary. After the Battle of Shiloh in 1862, the Union Army commandeered the college to use as a hospital. The Army left the area in 1864 and burned the building to the ground, the college never re-opened.
