The document outlines Christopher Estrat's complaint against John Barnard, who allegedly agreed to lease a piece of land to Jan Baptist and Estrat for 7 years, but then ran Estrat off of it before the lease expired. Estratt is therefore suing Barnard for damages. Livingston's description of the case is then followed by a note from Barnard to Arent Bratt, in which Barnard asks Bratt to attend his case at the Court of Common Pleas.

Title: An Act for defraying sundry Incidental Charges

Appropriations bill signed by New Jersey Governor Livingston and co-signed by Benjamin Van Cleve as Speaker of the Assembly. Lists several persons to be paid or reimbursed. Most of the payments go to members of the Privy Council or the Assembly for attending sessions. There are several payments for the transport of prisoners. Also pays for the room rentals for the council and assembly to meet. Docket says the bill was read three times in both the council and assembly and was passed. Includes a small ribbon in mylar in the folder.

A travel diary describes his trip to England and Ireland in 1851, corresponding with some of his letters. He bought them from Thomas Flucker, Knox's father-in-law, to whom the property had been mortgaged. Some time later, he happened to encounter Mr. Flucker and was told that everything regarding the mortgage was arranged to Henley's satisfaction. A portion of the letter, including Knox's signature, is missing. Date was taken from the docket, which is in Knox's hand.

Hodgdon has located a house for Secretary of Knox to use in Philadelphia. Hodgdon has managed to work out a deal not exceeding 200 pounds a year. Relates that he also found a location "sufficient to house every species of the Public Stores." Hodgdon has several other public officials he has to now try to accommodate as well.
