Reports that as soon as he arrived, he gave paperwork to Mr. Harrison regarding the agreement with Madame de Leval. Explains that Mr. [William] Duer has been planning to leave for New Jersey but keeps delaying the trip. Upon learning this, he asked that Madame de Leval come to New York to sign the papers so that Mr. Duer and Mr. de la Roche could execute them before she has to set sail again. Also mentions some concerns Madame de Leval has about the settlers on the land. "Free" stamped on address leaf with no signature.

Discusses the extensive financial trouble their mutual friend [William] Duer has recently found himself in. Explains payments he has received from General [Henry] Jackson respecting the Waldo patent lands. Has not seen Madam Leval and her associates, but knows they are waiting to have their paperwork translated. Hope to have that performed in Philadelphia, as they cannot have it done in New York. Briefly touches on some business arrangements with Madam Leval.

Delayed writing to Knox, in the hopes of being able to tell him news about Mr. [William] Duer or about Madame de Leval. However, he does not have news about either, yet. Writes that General [Henry] Jackson and Mr. [Royal] Flint had to raise Duer's share of the money to purchase lands through a contract they negotiated. Adds that Duer has pledged to repay his share. Discusses Knox's situation with [William] Duer and Madam de Leval over land negotiations. States Duer has given him Knox's obligation to convey to Duer a certain proposition on a township. Asks that Knox informs him when he is ready to make the final conveyance. Also notes Leval's concern over the Committee delaying the meeting regarding her land claims. Two parts. First part is addressed to Benjamin Walker and discusses a deed to land. Notes he received Walker's letter pertaining to the St. Lawrence lands. Mentions he has repeatedly asked Duer for copies of several notes but that Duer has been unable to locate them. Also discusses Madam de Leval's intention of applying to the Massachusetts Legislature regarding her land claim. Believes if that were to happen the contract will likely be lost. Second part is a copy of a receipt written in Knox's hand from William Duer. Confirms Duer's receipt of money from Knox.

Would have written sooner if he had information to alleviate Walker's anxiety. Reports that Madame Leval "has been endeavoring to make such negotiations as would exonerate you from all responsibility, but Hither to without effect." She is trying to change the agreement, which may go into effect before Walker's has to make payments. At present she wants $40,000, which Knox thinks she will not get.

Has a postal stamped [New?] Haven dated June 20th. Informs Knox he sent Julia [Knox?] a horse. Describes the horse as not being handsome but says it is a Narragansett Breed, which is the best of breeds. Recommends Knox has the horse saddled immediately upon its arrival. Says "I am persuaded that your good sense as well as inclination will lead you to unite cordially with General Wayne, and to promote a Spirit of harmony throughout the several corps." Badly misses Henry and hopes to hear from him, her only comfort being her young baby, Lucy Flucker Knox. Hopes that he cries when thinking of her hardships. Reports that William Knox, who she calls Billy, has set out for Newburg, in order to purchase stationery which he hopes to sell.
