Printed by John Baskett. First British edition. Printed in English, Spanish, and Latin. Treaty of Utrecht between France and England. France returned Hudson's Bay to the British. It also gave up Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and St. Kitts and acknowledged England's sovereignty over the Iroguois.

Adds that Santa Anna had asked General Winfield Scott for a short armistice, even though he has been raising several thousand troops to defend Mexico City. Discusses military plans, keeping personal news to a minimum. Possibly Hopping's last letter home, as he died in Mier, Mexico on1 September 1847.

Indicates that General Frederick Haldimand, the governor of the province of Quebec, refused to agree on any terms until there was a definitive treaty, although he did observe a cessation of fighting. Claims that Haldimand will limit communication and attempt "to hinder any overtures, being made from the United States to the Indians."

One sepia-tone silver gelatin print of the ship that transported President Woodrow Wilson to Europe to sign the Treaty of Versailles at the end of World War I. Co-signed by President Wilson, Secretary of Navy Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Captain Edward McCauley. Two other signatures are present and appear to read as "F.M. Perkins," a commander in the U.S. Navy, and "J.K. Peters," a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve Forces. A finely penned ink signature of "Thomas A. White" is on verso.
