They are on Ship's Island. They don't know where they're going next. Maybe Mobile or Texas. The rest of the regiment is reported lost at sea. There are rebel prisoners on the island.

They have had a very successful expedition, driving the rebels back and capturing a great many prisoners. The food has improved greatly and they are doing their own cooking. He doesn't know when they will be paid so he asks for money.

A black and white photograph of a blindfolded U.S. Army Air Corps officer being led from a plane by two Japanese soldiers. There is a press clipping in the photograph and an block of the photo is obscured by a white bar. The back of the photograph is dated February 25, 1943. Attached to the back of the photograph is a typed note describing the photograph.

A black and white photograph of U.S. Army Air Corps men in Japan following the Doolittle Raid. Two of the men in the photograph are believed to be Lieutenant Robert Hite and Lieutenant William Farrow. Attached to the back of the photograph is a press clipping describing the photograph with the date June 11, 1943.

Title: The U.S.S. Texas in World War II: A Pictorial Review of the Accomplishments of the Thirty-Ones Year Old Battleship, Published for the Officers and Men Who Served in Her During the Second World War

A cheifly pictoral record of the officers and men who served on the U.S.S. Texas during World War II. On the last page is a hand written note by Thomas Barwiss Hagstoz Askin, Jr. stating that the U.S.S. Texas was towed by the U.S.S. Mosopelea and the U.S.S. Paiute to San Jacinto, Texas to be enshrined as a state memorial. Accompanying each picture is a brief description of the event ocuring at the time of the photograph.

They will not start for home until the 10th or 15th of next month. 2 regiments of cavalry from General Grant's army came in a captured 50 prisoners. In all they ahd about 1100 prisoners. They also took African-Americans and put them right into the army

They surrounded a Rebel camp and got 6 prisioners, 10 horses and some mules. Later they started catching chickens, geese and ducks. Today is the one year anniversary of when he left home. A lot of Rebel deserters are coming in.

A small squad of 3400 Rebels came in the other day and he describes them as the godforsaken people he ever saw. They wore dirty and ragged uniforms. He and his friends are doing extremely well and have grown fat.

One trading card from the Red Menace collection, "5. Hill 303," depicting an execution of GI soldiers by North Korean firing squad. Reverse side contains propaganda narrative describing the massacre of Hill 303. The text illustrates North Korean soldiers who disboey the international law which protects the lives of prisoners of war.
