One book entitled, "Letters from Famous People" by Sharpless Dobson Green, published in 1925. This book is a collection of letters solicited by Green. He wrote to people eminent in their professional fields for advice he could share with his students at the Senior High School of Trenton, New Jersey. He then published these letters in this book after gaining permission from their authors. Of the 324 letters, some notable names are; Franklin D. Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, W.E.B. Dubois, and Harry Houdini.

Newspaper clippings inserted at beginning with Washington's General Order, July 1776 and McClellan's General Order, September 1861. Also positions of the sun and moon and on the back, a list of the original 13 states and all the signers of the declaration. Records the weather. On February 23rd, he mentions the nomination of Mr. Fred S.M. Nelly for U.S. senate. On March 11, the daughter of an acquaintance was severely burned with camphine. Many entries are cross written. Newspaper clippings inserted throughout. Some expanded entries in the back. He mentions the son of Mr. Young who drowned.

Author Graves feels the race problem is indestructible and universal, not likely to ever go away even with the appointment of Black people in Southern offices. He cites several examples where Black people are discriminated against in the North. Small advertisement on bottom left. Backside includes articles about George land grants and company debts.

Faithfully records the weather each and every day. On May 31st, someone named John steals $150 from another man. June 8th, Thompson's sister got married. Went to a democratic meeting in October and nominated a clerk. November 11th, attended a large funeral for the Hon. R.P. Thompson.

Records the weather. On March 12th, he mentions the city elections. April 24th, acknowledges how sad it is that so many young men are going to war and he hopes they return safely. Mentions church and bible class frequently. On July 22nd, he notes bad news from the battle of Manassas Junction. Reports say between 3,000 and 15,000 were killed.
