On Senate stationery. Senator Sherman does not feel at liberty "to advise Gen Harrison as to his cabinet," but hopes he will include some Southerners. John Sherman (1823-1900), William Tecumseh's brother was a prominent US Senator from Ohio (1861-1877). He also served as Secretary of the Treasury (1877-1881) and Secretary of State (1890-1898). Sherman writes: "Your letter is received enclosing that of Governor Brown, which I now return to you…I do not feel at liberty to advise Gen Harrison as to his Cabinet unless he should desire my opinion. I have hopes that he would select one or two…

Title: Livingston & Schuyler's Remonstrance for Actions at his Majestys Council

Robert Livingston and Peter Schuyler, having been summoned to a memorial service held upon the death of the Earl of Bellomont, travelled to New York where (with the absence of the Lieutenant Governor) the Council illegally invited Coll Smith to become President of the Council. This remonstrance is an apology for misreading the situation and for having acted so. Document signed by both Schuyler and Livingston.

He also writes of the Assembly elections, "if we carry it [at Exeter] & at Albany we shall have the majority" and news from Capt. John writes home to discuss the problems that father wrote of to son, namely the difficulties in being reimbursed for the moneys outlayed for the Provincial Government. He thanks his father for the "Acct of the apreyseall of ouwer goods at Boston" and writes that "when [Vetch returns] I will have an Exackt Acct of Everything." Docketed on verso.

He also sends word of life at the Court of St. James, and of Coll.
