General Taylor, commander of the Army of the South during this period in the second Seminole War, sent this cover letter with enclosed reports (not included) to Major General Jones, adjutant general of the Army in Washington, D.C. One report attested to the bravery of Captain Rains when attacked by Seminoles near Fort King in April, 1840. The other concerned the murder of woman and two children by Seminoles. At that conference, Nixon announced the resignation of Secretary of State William Rogers and the nomination of Henry Kissinger as his successor. He also took questions on the Watergate investigation. Written on White House stationery a little over a month after John Dean's Watergate testimony. Also includes three identical cards with "The President" printed on each.
