Previous research determined that the addressee is Isaac Winslow, Sr. Received his last letter respecting the Waldo patent lands and learned from it that their predecessors agreed to sell to several different parties. Discusses legislation allowing them to sell the deeds. Comments on how best to proceed with the sales, as well as on how to handle pricing and payment. Also discusses the appointment of agents to manage the country, including Thomas Vose, as well as how best to handle the people living on the patent. Possibly connected to GLC02437.08195.

Encloses (not included) an extract of a letter from Mr. [Samuel] Ogden. Parkman apparently owes his share of funds for iron that was paid for, in part, by Major [Samuel] Shaw. Knox says that the iron can likely be procured in Boston, but might be procured in New York, on three months's credit. Declares that it would be an unfortunate circumstance if the ship should suffer for want of iron. Offers to help procure it in New York if Parkman cannot in Boston.

Wishes help in settling disputes with those living on his lands in the Waldo patent. Also addresses to "Major Bracket and the reverend Thurston Whiting." Recent attacks on his surveyors have been made by neighbors worried he may encroach on their land. Asks Thomas, Bracket and Whiting to go to the towns on his land, and convince the residents that he has there best interestest in mind. Also asks them to accompany those surveying his land and report any violence, so the government can act to stop the attacks. Also discusses the history and details of his lands.

Pettition requesting that the Masschusetts government protect his lands against hostile squatters who live nearby, and who have repeatly attacked his surveyors and threatened violence to his lands. States that the government has promised protection, and has previously aided him, but that his lands remain threatened. Details the history of the attacks on his lands, and the opposition of these squatters and neighbors. Written some time shortly after August 1801.
