Relates that in 1783, Robert Morris, Superintendent of Finance, asked Greene to arrange for the supply of provisions to the Southern Army when their existing contract expired. The only private contractor who would agree to negotiate with Greene was John Banks. Greene had no choice but to accept Banks's offer, even though he thought Banks's terms were too high, and the contract between Banks and the Southern Army commenced 20 February 1783. Writes, "I would long ago have sent you the Irish Editions you wanted but on examining found I had no quantity to make up a parcell [sic]... I now trouble you with 6 Dozen of my almanack with a list of the whole American Army Subalterns included which never was done before & will be much demanded by the military..." Also transmits a parcel for D. Philips of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and some pills Rivington claims can cure a great number of [ailments?].
