The broadside asks "Are freemen less brave than slaves[?]" Subscribed in type by Douglass and fifty-four other African-American leaders, including William Forten, Rev. William T. Catto, Rev. Stephen Smith, Rev. J.C. Gibbs, and many others. Per David Blight letter, it appeared Spring 1863. (This broadside reprints a Douglass editorial.)

Verso has a manuscript (also in Dutch) signed by Christian Pietersen and five others and dated 4 May 1667 from Bergen. The land granted consisted of two lots with a garden and farm house. Written in a compressed Elizabethan secretarial hand in Dutch, with paper seal. Signed by Stuyvesant as governor.
