Title: [Certificate of service for John Banks]
Certifies that John Banks of the state of New York, has served the United States as a Conductor of Stores from 12 April 1777 to 19 July 1783. Mr. Banks is therefore entitled to his pay and the depreciation of his pay during his period of service, deducting anything he's received publicly. Banks is now able to resign from his office having settled his public accounts and given up his books and vouchers. The certificate is signed "H. Knox" by Samuel Shaw, Knox's aide de camp, and the body is written in Shaw's hand.
