Title: [An act that all collectors of Crown Point Bills who are in arrears be prosecuted]

Clerical copy of an act of the General Assembly of the Colony of Rhode Island. All collectors of Crown Point Bills who have not paid these into the treasury are to be held accountable. Includes statement of accounts. Recto of last page is the address of Thomas Richardson, Esquire, in Newport. Docket includes the signature of J. Cranston. Attested as a true copy by Secretary Thomas Ward. J. Lyndon signs as Clerk. Document consists of two pages, one appears to be a corner fragment of a full size page and the other appears to be the reverse shape and is missing a corner fragment.

Says that Willet's men killed and wounded ninety, while taking only five dead themselves, even though they were outnumbered. Offers to accompany Clinton on his upcoming trip "visit the army down towards New York."

Lawton informs his father that he attempted to send the barrel of flour he previously requested, but that ship masters refused to transport the flour because "Capt. Wallace stops the least Trifle of Provision that is sent up the River." Writes that he received the offer of a treasury note from Captain [Werner's] wife, and "should be glad to know Whether their is money to Reedeem it at this Time as she wants About Twenty Dollars in Goods and will Expect the Remainder in Cash." Relates that the note is dated February 23. Letter addressed to Joseph Clarke.

Seal in very good condition.

Rebekah Barrell writes to her husband, William Barrel, in New York, a soldier in "Capt. Jacob's Company in Colon. Baily's" regiment. Sweetly expresses her desire to be reunited with him after his six months of service. Discusses making clothes for him. A letter from Rebekah's sister, Elizabeth Wilder, appears on the verso. She reminds William of how much he is missed and loved. Also, comments: "we hear that their is no want for female soldiers in the camp[.] Beware of the Bed Blankit disorder." Discusses other local and family news. Rebekah and William had been married less than a year.

Partially printed document signed by Thomas Kimball, whose identity is unknown, who appears to have written everything in ink on the page. Document subscribes Ebenezer Low, Jr. and Thomas Jalloson to continue in the service of the United States for three years. Low, who signed on 7 February 1781, and Jalloson who signed on 27 March 1781, both signed an "X" for their mark. Document has printed names of Caleb Davis, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Jeremiah Powell, President of the Senate. Also has printed name of John Hancock, Governor of Massachusetts.

One copy of the probate and last will of Roper Dawson dated August 15, 1771. Outlines how his heirs, his wife Rachel, son George, and daughters Harriet and Charlotte will divide the estate upon his death. Appoints his wife and friends Augustus Van Cortland and George Baines as executors, who would have the power to remove the children from their mother if they deemed it necessary. States that Hquath, Cuba, Cyman, Jack and Yorick, people enslaved by Roper Dawson would continue to be enslaved by each of his children and wife.

Butts is glad to be back in England, where thinking is not a crime worthy of tar and feathering. Butts left Gravesend, New York on the ship "Thomas" on July 17, 1776. Gives account of his attempted voyage to England. Says they had an uneventful journey until the 9th week, when they met a 70 ton sloop that easily caught up to them because of the bad sailing condition of the "Thomas." The sloop raised the Union Jack and said they were sailing from Virginia under the orders of Lord Dunmore to stop Americans from fishing on the banks. The oath of a loyalist named Robert Robb pledges non-aggression and loyalty to the cause of the United States. The second page is a bond holding the property of Robert Robb, David Robb, and James Smith, for Robb's parole, signed by Lyon by order of the Committee of Safety.
