Both Dunton's and Parsons's families are sharing one unfinished house. Parsons is currently out of town, but Dunton begs that when he returns, Knox relocate Parsons to an empty schoolhouse nearby.

Cannot write a long letter because he is short on paper. Reports on dairies in a region of Knox's lands, and discusses taxation affecting Knox's lands. Also includes a bill for his services, and asks Knox politely if he could pay soon, as he is "poor."

Reports that he just returned from attending the examination of Knox's settlers' land claims (see GLC02437.07822). Declares that it "has been an arduous and disagreeable undertaking." Touches briefly on the claims heard by General [Salem] Towne (he spells it "Town") and mentions that he will send a more thorough communication on the subject soon. Discusses payment for the witnesses Knox sent along, such as a Mr. Mudgit. Also declares that Judge Towne is showing himself to be honest and upright.

" Also states that he already had the curtains and sashes made to fit the specifications of the windows listed in the last plan and suggests a way to adjust the height of the windows so they match. Continues to comment and make suggestions about the windows and doors. Watermarked "Budgen."

I have a sum of Specie which will enable me to Man the Boats in case of Emergency; and on timely notice can have the Canoes at Westham, which I expect will be sufficient to remove nearly the whole of the Arms you Mention." Reports that the barracks are well prepared, and requests extra straw.

Has heard that in the absence of General Sheppard [probably William Shepard], a Colonel Chapin will be in command. Asks Williams to talk to Colonel Chapin about rounding up the Connecticut Militia. Has made arrangements with the Governor of this state [perhaps Samuel Huntington, Governor of Connecticut], and with General [possibly Roger] Newberry, who will be traveling to Springfield.
