Dudley, the Royal Governor of Massachusetts, hopes that his subjects will treat the Indians with "all Exactness of friendship," so that any conflicts can be avoided in the near future. Wants to avoid any mischief occurring between the colonists and the Indians for the time being. Asks the recipient of this letter to convey these messages to the people, because he knows them well. Portsmouth was then under the jurisdiction of Massachusetts, as New Hampshire was not yet a separate entity. Addington's name is written in pencil at the bottom of the letter with a question mark…

Fairfax was Lord Proprietor of the Northern Neck of Virginia and the only resident Lord Proprietor in America.

Pratt, wants to import "some cargoes of iron" from abroad under the English flag. He wants to then run them ashore on small vessels. Asks Wise to facilitate the enterprise as far as he possibly could.

Johnson, Governor of Georgia, writes to Land (possibly Nathan Land, a farmer and lawyer, who had moved his family from Twiggs to Cass County in 1848). Replies to a letter from Land, in which Land requested Johnson's assistance (possibly regarding an appointment he sought at a local civic post). Writes, "I am desirous for you to have a situation. The changes you allude to have occurred. But I did not suppose any of the places except the Kingston station would suit you..."
