She gave him a "B" stamp, because it will be unlikely she can use all of her "B" stamps before they expire on September 18th. Complained about where he traveled on the rationed gas and about Ben not putting the hose away.

Talks about going overseas with the Red Cross. Written at 9:30 at home. Sylvia has been invited to participate in the dedication of the Honor Roll Plaque for the Jewish War Vets.

Sylvia talks about food and clothing available at his Camp [Lewis]. Just heard in the office that Italy has unconditionally surrendered and that Russia will be a party to the exact terms. Says another phase of the War is over and it means that it is one step closer to his coming home, and that many lives will be saved by this. Moe has now been in the Army for six months. She is glad his hay fever is not bothering him.

Written at home, Friday night. Sylvia took the car to work because Mad (sister) was able to get gasoline for 50 cents a gallon after waiting in line for an hour. Had three emergencies in Intake. She has also arranged to buy 400 tickets from the Paramount at 38 cents apiece to resell for 55 cents apiece to raise funds for the Union. Reports on his family. Went to see her mother, who wasn't home. The neighbors offered her a drink "but she is still on the wagon" even though her condition is gone. Talks about remembering him in civilian clothes.

Knows his chances of getting into OSS are nil.

An air raid siren has gone off and she must run as she is the Police Precinct Rep. of Emergency Welfare Center. Written at 11:30 PM at home. Had a hectic experience, caught in the car during the blackout. Went to the 67th Police Precinct and took shelter there. Letter is incomplete and ends abruptly.
