Moe writes that Sylvia's mention of a corned beef sandwich from Garfield's made his mouth water because the corned beef they have comes out of a can. He also asks her to send some sardines.

Moe refers to a "situation" regarding Uncle Ben in which they forgot to ask Sylvia something and not wanting to offend her are doing their best not to anger her. The only way she can prove she's not slighted is to "attend the function."

Moe thanks Sylvia for the soap and the film she sent. He asks her not to send anymore toilet articles as he can get plenty there.

Moe is disappointed because Sylvia didn't send the money he asked for and is hoping that it just hasn't arrived yet. He reminds her that the money he makes is just enough to get through the month.

Moe has had trouble sleeping, he mentions that he and Joe are getting along alright and he hopes to see them soon. He also reports that he received a letter from Marty.

It is Memorial Day and they have been given the day off. Moe used the time to rest and to write to Sylvia. He comments that she is becoming quite the executive, herself.

Moe worked guard all night. He notes there are too many ratings in his company so that the "poor private would be worked to death." He also notes that he was shocked by the coolness after he experienced the heat of New York. He hears other soldiers...
