Moe reports that last night, he, Jack, and Marty began a gin game while tuning into the G.I. station. The next morning after chow, they began a drill.

Moe reports that last evening they went by truck to a town to celebrate the Festival of the Maccabees, or Chanukah. There were American and British soldiers participating and the ceremonies were presided over by an American and British chaplain.

Moe mentions that after the ceremony they were served tea and cakes. He also mentions that there was a musical part of the program in which women played the piano and violin.

Moe forgot to tell Sylvia where the service took place; in the Guild Hall of the City where there were crystal chandeliers. He met a Capt. Hutt who came from New York as well and lived near the beach like them.

Moe decided to go on sick call so that he could see the dentist.

Moe went to the dentist where they complimented his teeth and gave him a cleaning. He reports that he has not received any mail from her today. He says there can be no Christmas until he can take her in his arms again.

Moe mentions that while he was playing gin with the boys they listened to a radio program with Bob Hope. Everything they see and hear reminds them of home. He is feeling very nostalgic, and homesick.

Moe writes that his Christmas hasn't been bad, and that he will write a proper letter soon. He is on C.Q duty tonight.

Moe asks about the Bar Mitzvah and tells Sylvia that she needn't worry about how she looks because no one has clothes as good as her and none of them wear clothes as well as she does.

Moe played gin with Marty, Joe and Jack. Afterwards they all contributed packages of various foods to be shared amongst them. Christmas dinner was turkey, and it was delicious. Moe also mentioned that he has not had any news of Mad and Ben.

Moe is listening to Albert Spaulding and wonders if Sylvia is doing something similar. He is waiting for the boys to get back so they can play gin again, and is hoping for a letter from her.

Moe is glad Sylvia is beginning to get his letters. He writes that it is a good thing Eddie is sending her to Newman's for a suit, he got his Dad's there and it is a good buy.

Moe mentions an incident at the barber shop where he was being worked on, and all of a sudden someone came in and said he was due to go to work at the depot later that night and needed his haircut right away. The barber was ready to stop what he was...

Moe wishes he could spend his time answering Sylvia's letters. He read an article about a show called "She's the Army." It is almost impossible to get tickets for the show, he tried.

Moe responds to one of Sylvia's letters, saying it must have been lovely on the boardwalk and has received her kisses she wafted across the sea. He lets her know she is never out of his thoughts for more than a few moments.

Moe has settled down to an evening of gin with Marty and Jack. He later listened to BBC Home Service because he knows Sylvia listens to the program.

Moe went to a picture show, and enjoyed it. There were songs that he and Sylvia have sung many times, and it brought back a lot of memories.
