At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One letter to the Army Transportation Association from Dexter E. Kelpe dated March 2, 1945. Adding an additional eight members to the association. Also notes that Lawrence E. Bradley is to be discharged and he will become one of the earliest members to become a civilian. The letter also states that fifty eight of fifty nine officers of the company are now members. Includes a typed note on the second page acknowledging receipt and thanking Dexter for the work.
