Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One photograph of a party circa 1920. The photograph features a group of people in costume posed on the front steps of a house. There are twenty five people in the photo. A notation on the rear of the photo explains that it is a bank office "tacky party" and points out the note makers date and a few other people's positions in the Bank.
