At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One undated greeting card to Robert E. Dyer. Features a heart shaped cut-out through which you can see a girl. The cover reads, "Whassa Matter? Think I'm Too Dumb." The inside of the card features the girl in a bridal dress. The inside reads, "To Have a Bride Idea!"
