Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe met a Russian doctor, and spoke to her in Yiddish. He notes that it is a year ago today that he saw Sylvia off at the station in Tacoma. He is glad she is enjoying her work, and writes that a couple years ago he increased the value of Barralino hats.
