At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe describes his work in the clothing repair warehouse today. He says he prefers Fort Lewis to Salem because now they are given something to do every day and they are always done by 4:30pm. He is very excited about the possibility of furlough and addresses Sylvia's concern that he may be shipped to Alaska.
