Sylvia describes a friend of hers Sara telling her that Sam, possibly a boyfriend or husband, has a furlough and will be coming in today on the train, and that they will see each other for the first time in eight months. Sylvia says at first she was jealous, because it's been as long as Moe has been away but she went to lunch and felt better. Sylvia then answers his letters.
