Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Sylvia notes that since it's either hot, cold or damp, Oregon doesn't have any nice weather at all. Hopes he will soon know what his next assignment is. Is more than satisfied if he wants to just write about what's happening and not answer her letters per se. She explains that she will have to take off at least three weeks of her vacation time even to see Moe for only three days because of travel time and location specifications.
