Writes that he is suffering from occasional headaches, neuralgia, and a sharp pain in his side. He mentions that he "would give much" to hear from family and even more to see them. He tells her that if possible she should "secure all [his] traps and [her] own valuables for everything is liable to be taken." He mentions that the weather continues to be "warm & sultry" but notes that autumn is only a month away.
