An editorial titled "Thoughts" discusses the recent request by Jefferson Davis for a day of fasting and prayer. A long obituary for "Col. Oliver Evans Edwards" gives a lengthy biography as a lawyer, legislative member, and heroism in war. An article titled "Dedication" reports a spiritual jubilee in Orangeburg and the dedication of a new Baptist church there.
