Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This newspaper is from the Southern Confederacy and includes main articles on Major A.M. Lea and his Son, a continutation of the previous Review of the Report of the Secretary of the Treasury concerning Confederate Bonds and Stocks, a notice on the Political Situation of the country, a continued Speech of Hon.
