At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Wells discusses the publication of his "little book" [God the Invisible King]. He had hoped to have the book published in early 1917, but this will not happen because Mr. Jacks publishes quarterly. He does not care about price. He also remarks his religion is "distinctly anti-Christian."
