There are six men total in the image. Five are posed, two sitting, three standing, while the sixth appears to be exiting the tent with a cup in his hand. The man in the center strikes a Napoleonic pose. Inscription on verso: "Gen. Ward Gen. Mott Col. Austin Col. Brewster Col. Farnham 2nd division 3d corps. Oct 1863. 280 pages 10 cat." The number "280" was inscribed on the negative and so appears backwards in the lower right corner. Numeric notation on verso: "#280." Formerly part of H.W. Fay's (keeper of Lincoln's tomb) scrapbook, however it is not as yellowed as the other images, is unmounted, and the inscription does not match the handwriting on all but one of the others.
