A print of a photograph taken of Zouaves of the 164th N.Y., "Corcoran's [Irish] Legion," in formation with line officers to the front on either side and a drummer on the left side of the image. The troops hold their rifles at the Support Arms position. Horse-drawn wagon and soldiers tents in background. The regiment was organized at New York City September and October 1862 by Micheal Corcoran who had been ordered to consolidate eight existing Irish regiments. The Zouave uniforms worn by the 164th were issued in February 1863 and was dark blue wool with red trim and tombeaux. The fez was also dark blue and had a green tassel. The waist-sash worn by the 164th was most likely of red flannel. The print is oval shaped. Graphite inscription beneath photograph reads "Com 16 Newyork." On reverse is written "1 pos 200%" and is stamped "Art Department, The Century Co., 33 East 17th St., New York City."
