At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Full title: "Texas. Observation, Historical, geographical and descriptive in a series of letter, written during a visit to Austin's colony, with a view to a permanent settlement in that country...." 12mo. First book in English entirely on Texas. Signed on front papers "Rd Higgins, Jr." and "F. M. Green, 1929." There are also pencil notes inside the back cover. Holley was a cousin of Stephen Austin. Letters nos.
