At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

The regiment had a good time back in Indianapolis. He says that while he felt comfortable returning to the front because "soldieren seams naturel as ever." The men had left Indianapolis at 4 in the afternoon of April 13 and were headed back to the front. He said that he will send a photograph and asks that she send hers.
