The weather changed so suddenly and frequently that someone in the family almost always had a cold. Writes about the family members who visited her. She is sad to think of how their family seems to become separated further and further each year. His sister Cordelia visited and they read some of his old letters together. States that several more of his family members have written to him. She has read many of his letters to her friends and family. She is sympathetic for the "poor afflicted" ones.
