Lieutenant T. Otis Baker served in Co. B, 10th Mississippi Infantry, C.S.A. The diary covers 9 October 1862-2 August 1863. The diary includes descriptions of regiment's progress and moves, descriptions of various battles (including Vicksburg, Gettysburg, and Port Hudson), and information about camp life and food rations.
