Along with Hancock, Joseph Jackson, John Ruddock, John Rowe and Samuel Pemberton signed as the selectmen of Boston. Recounts Parliament's impositions on the Americans via the Intolerable Acts and the alarm caused by the announcement by Sir Francis Bernard, the royal governor of New Jersey, that additional regiments were expected in Massachusetts.
