At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Peter writes that he is sorry to hear that Robert, Jr. is "disturbed by the Boston people" with regard to the contested boundaries of the Manor, and offers some advice on the matter. He also notes in a post script that a large vein of copper ore was recently discovered.
