At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Young Robert apologizes for an act of disobedience, and warns his father that Mr. Woodfoord has not kept his word regarding an unspecified matter. With letters from James Douglas, 28 June 1706; John Key, 28 June 1706. Both letters are concerned with the same conflict with Mr. Woodford and Livingston's son, and offer Robert advice on how to recitfy the situation. Docketed on address leaf.
