Livingston writes in an effort to inform of the reasons for his undertaking the position of victualler to the forces at Albany (due to fear of a reduction of forces should a victualler not be found), and his subsequent difficulties in receiving payment for his services (by Livingston's calculations, his accrued repayment should total £1589 15 shillings 6 pence).
