At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lists soldiers in Company "I", 7th Regiment Rhode Island Volunteers and the pay they are due between the months of October 1862 and September 1863. Author unknown but possibly created by Captain Ethan A. Jenks, as he was the Commanding Officer of the Company.
