Confederate General Hood, Commander of the Army of the Tennessee, relates that Bragg's instructions will soon be followed regarding the command of General Roddy (possibly Philip Dale Roddey), and that Roddey soon departs for West Point. Informs Bragg, commander of the Department of North Carolina, that he (Hood) is taking precautions to prevent the interruption of transmitting supplies. Discusses drawing supplies from Alabama. Mentions that Union cavalry in the area have been broken up. Writes "I try to assure you that I have no intention of abandoning this place... I shall certainly give the enemy battle before I leave it." Docketed extensively. Includes red ink beneath docket.
