Describes a series of legal actions relating to a court case involving the sale of enslaved people. The defendant, George Saxby, was ordered to pay a sum to the complainant, William Waties, including two thirds of the cost of the lawsuit. George Saxby then petitioned the court for a rehearing, and the case was reheard on December 7, 1769, resulting in the same decision. Signed by members of the Court of Chancery in South Carolina, including William Bull, the Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina. Other signers include Othniel Beale, Henry Middleton, John Burn, and Thomas Skottone. Henry Middleton would later represent South Carolina as a delegate to the Continental Congress of 1774.
