At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Noted as a copy on the docket. An advertisement sent out stating the subscriber (likely Henry Knox) has agreed with the settlers. States, "Emigrants from the States Westward, On principles promising them great prosperity and the establishment of harmony and good order throughout that fertile region...in future No usurpation of his lands will be tolerated."
