At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Document is not signed but appears to be in Knox's handwriting. A rough outline regarding the Germans' land claims on the west side of Broad Bay (Waldoboro, Maine). Discusses land deals and legal obligations involving Henry Knox, Brigadier Samuel Waldo, Waldo heirs, and the Germans on the Waldo patent lands. First two pages are written on the verso of an unsigned printed deed of Henry Knox. Title and date was taken from docket.
