Signed by Benjamin Cates, James Cates, John Cates, and Andrew Cates. Also signed by David Fales as the Justice of the Peace. A written deposition regarding the defacement of surveyed land on Henry Knox's patent in Maine. The deposition describes the amount of land and type of defacement committed by the settlers. Also describes other hostile acts the settlers committed. A note at the bottom of the letter states the above mentioned names made an oath to the truth.
